CGI manufacturers several sliding door and patio door series, and parts generally do not cross over between them. If the label has faded, measure the visible glass width and the overall frame height, and check whether the interlock where the two panels meet is flat or has a raised bead. Those three details plus the year of install will typically tell us exactly which series we’re working with.

• Noticeable draft or whistling sound near the interlock during windy days. The pile weatherstrip along the meeting stile has worn flat. On oceanfront buildings, we see this happen in as little as five to seven years because coastal winds blow sand against the seal daily.
• Increased outdoor noise or heat transfer through closed doors. On older CGI doors from the 2000s, the original glazing wedge gasket shrinks over time, breaking the air seal. You’ll feel heat pushing in on summer afternoons and hear Collins Avenue traffic like the door is cracked open.

DIY or Call Us?

Some things you can safely do: vacuum the bottom track, clear the weep holes with a soft wire, and check that no furniture or settling has obstructed the top track. Lubricate the rollers with a dry silicone spray if the door is binding, then slide it a few feet to work the part in.
