Why Miami Beach Homeowners Choose PGT Windows & Doors

We provide independent PGT in Miami Beach windows and doors service throughout the area, from South Beach’s historic Art Deco corridors to the mid-rise condo towers along Collins Avenue. Our technicians have rebuilt PGT WinGuard, PremierVue, 2300 Series, and 7700 Series systems in coastal buildings for over a decade, and we’re familiar with how salt air, hurricane-driven rain, and Miami Beach’s unique code requirements affect every part of those products. We are not affiliated with or authorized by PGT, which means we answer to you and to Ed Winslow’s name on the truck, not to a manufacturer’s service network. Call (863) 656-0462 and you’ll reach a live person who can talk through what’s actually wrong with your window or door.

Why Trust Winslow Windows & Doors for Your PGT Windows & Doors?

Ed Winslow grew up in Miami and studied Building Construction Technology at Miami Dade College before spending years in the field and putting his own name on a truck in 2011, building what locals now know as a trusted Miami PGT service. He and our crew have worked up and down Miami Beach for years, from older condos near the Faena District to single-family homes just off the boulevard. That local history matters when you’re dealing with PGT products in this climate, because we’ve seen what actually fails and why, not just what the spec sheet says should happen.

Our technicians work on PGT equipment weekly. We stock OEM PGT rollers, balances, weatherstripping, and hardware for the WinGuard aluminum impact line, PremierVue vinyl, 2300 Series aluminum, and 7700 Series vinyl. When a 12-foot WinGuard 3-lite slider is dragging because stainless tracks have corroded from salt spray, we don’t guess at the fix. We know which roller assemblies bind, which interlock adjustments restore the seal, and when a threshold needs marine-grade replacement rather than a cleaning. We also know how to service these systems without voiding your original installer’s workmanship warranty, because we follow the same removal and reinstallation standards the product was designed around.

Every tech who shows up at your door in Miami Beach is background-checked and in uniform. The number you call is answered by a person, 24 hours a day, not a call center. And the 36500-Day Done Right Promise applies to every PGT repair we perform: if it’s not done right, we make it right. Ed’s name is on every job we do. That keeps him honest.

Common PGT Windows & Doors Problems We Fix in Miami Beach

These are the failures we see most often in Miami Beach specifically. Salt air and hurricane exposure change how PGT products wear compared to inland installations, and knowing those differences saves you money and time.

  • Roller drag and jamming on WinGuard 3-lite sliders. The heavy aluminum panels on a 3-lite WinGuard slider ride on stainless steel rollers inside aluminum tracks. In Miami Beach, salt spray leaves a fine crystalline scale on those tracks that grinds the roller bearings and eventually causes the kind of drag you feel as a hard push or a grinding sound. We remove the panels, clean the scale, and replace the rollers with OEM PGT parts rather than generic hardware that won’t match the load rating.
  • Fogging and seal failure in PremierVue insulated glass. PremierVue vinyl windows use double-pane insulated glass units. On south-facing exposures in Miami Beach, the constant UV load and thermal cycling breaks down the edge seals, typically after 8 to 12 years. Once the seal fails, moisture gets between the panes and you get fog you can’t wipe away. The frame is often still perfectly fine, so we replace the insulated glass unit, not the whole window.
  • Weep hole blockage and corrosion at the bottom corners of 2300 Series aluminum frames. The 2300 Series is a workhorse aluminum product, but in high-spray salt zones along the beach, the weep holes that drain water out of the frame track clog with salt deposits and fine sand. Water then pools inside the track, wicks into the corners, and causes corrosion or staining at the sill. We clear the weep system, treat the corrosion, and where the frame is still sound, replace the affected weatherstripping and hardware so it drains properly again.
  • Stiff or frozen casement operator arms on WinGuard units. After a couple of hurricane seasons, the stainless hardware on WinGuard casement windows can corrode invisibly inside the operator mechanism. The crank gets stiff, then the arm binds, then the window won’t close tight enough for the impact rating to mean anything. We rebuild or replace the operator assembly with OEM-compatible parts and verify the compression seal is actually engaging.
  • Interlock and weatherstripping failure on sliding doors exposed to ocean wind. The interlock where two sliding panels meet is a precision fit. Salt and wind-driven sand wear the weatherstripping down, and the interlock starts to leak air and water. On a 6th-floor oceanfront condo on Collins Avenue, our tech replaced corroded stainless rollers and realigned a 12-foot PGT WinGuard 3-lite slider that had been dragging for months. We pulled the panels, cleaned the salt scale from the track, replaced the rollers with OEM parts, and adjusted the interlock so the center panel sealed tight. The owner said it slid like new and passed the building’s annual impact inspection.

PGT Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We don’t believe in replacing what can be fixed correctly. For PGT products with intact frames, we use OEM parts because the load ratings, profiles, and corrosion resistance are engineered for the system. That means OEM rollers for WinGuard sliders, OEM balances for PremierVue double-hungs, and OEM weatherstripping profiles cut to match the original extrusion. For discontinued vinyl sash parts where OEM inventory is no longer available, we source mill-spec aftermarket components that match the original profile and performance spec, not whatever fits loosely.

Our honest repair-or-replace rule is simple: we repair before recommending replacement unless the frame is bowed or corroded through, the glass seal has failed across multiple panes, or the original impact rating can’t be restored with available parts. When replacement is genuinely the better call, we say so and show you the numbers. Call (863) 656-0462 and we’ll walk through what you’re seeing, and we can typically tell you over the phone whether a repair is realistic before we even schedule the truck.

Our PGT Service Process - Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We identify the specific PGT part or assembly that failed, measure the frame and track for alignment issues, and check for corrosion or seal degradation that a quick visual inspection would miss. For Miami Beach buildings, we also verify the unit still meets the impact rating your HOA or condo board requires.
  2. 2
Repair or install. We replace the failed components with OEM PGT parts where the frame is intact or install the replacement unit if repair isn’t viable. For impact-rated work, we make sure the installation meets Miami-Dade County requirements and, where applicable, the Historic Preservation Board’s standards for sightlines and profiles.
  3. 3
Test. After service, we cycle the window or door through its full range of motion, check drainage through the weep system, verify the interlock and compression seals engage, and confirm smooth operation under load. For sliders, that means a no-drag pass on clean tracks with properly adjusted rollers.
  4. 4
Warranty. Our workmanship is backed by the 36500-Day Done Right Promise. If something we touched isn’t right, we come back. We also make sure our service doesn’t void the coverage you still carry from your original installation.

PGT Products We Service & Install in Miami Beach

We work on the PGT lines most common in Miami Beach’s housing stock. The WinGuard Aluminum Impact series is what we service most in oceanfront condos and historic district replacements, especially casement windows and 3-lite sliders. WinGuard doors and windows carry Miami-Dade NOA approvals, which is exactly what this market requires. PremierVue vinyl is common in newer residential work and rentals, and we handle the insulated glass failures and balance replacements those units develop. The 2300 Series aluminum and 7700 Series vinyl lines round out what we service, with the 2300 Series particularly common in mid-rise and high-rise buildings. We also install Impact Windows, horizontal roller and sliding impact windows, and we handle window maintenance and care programs for buildings that need to pass annual impact inspections.

We Also Service These Brands

While PGT is a big part of our service volume in Miami Beach, we’re not tied to one manufacturer. Our technicians carry experience on CGI, CWS, ES Windows, and ECO Window Systems as well. If your building has mixed brands across units or you’re comparing options, we can service what’s there and give you straight answers about what’s worth keeping.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"The old aluminium sliders howled every afternoon storm and swelter came straight through the glass. The new impact sliders shut with a sound like a bank vault and the back rooms finally hold their temperature."

PPercival Whitcombe
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."

MMaximilian Vasquez
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."

YYolanda Betancourt
★★★★★

"Our insurance agent asked for the wind mitigation paperwork and Ed had the whole file ready the day the job closed, every opening photographed. The premium conversation went very differently this year."
